It was a big whiff for the LSU football program in the First Round of the 2016 NFL Draft. Something that Baton Rouge isn't very used to.

But when Round 2 rolled around, we finally saw a Bayou Bengal come off the board.

With the 21st pick in the second round, the Atlanta Falcons selected LSU Linebacker Deion Jones. Which could be a surprise to some, because there were some mock drafts, and various reports, that suggested LSU OT Jerald Hawkins would come off the board before Jones.

Now the surprise is that after day 2 of the draft, Hawkins is still available. Do not be surprised to hear his name early in Round 4 though.

Jones finds himself in a nice spot in Atlanta, where the defense runs a 4-3 base, which will give him plenty of chances to show his freak athleticism. He may not see the starting lineup when the season kicks off, but he has the talent to be a starter by week 6.

The biggest negative about his new home, is that LSU fans who double as Saints fans will have to see him beat up Saints players twice a year in the NFC South.
