It’s that blessed time of the year where we all try to take stock of what we’ve done with our lives and what other people have created that we enjoyed. That's right, it's time to start putting together our "Best of 2016" lists, and today we're going to take a look at the Best Marvel Covers of 2016.

On the big screen, being a superhero looks fun and thrilling — and maybe also sort of dangerous and painful, but mostly exciting. But behind the scenes, being a superhero involves some awkward stuff, like motion capture and clingy spandex costumes and weird accessories, all of which, with the help of countless hours of movie magic, somehow translates to looking incredibly badass. Thanks to this new video from the set of Spider-Man: Homecoming, you can catch a glimpse of some of the weirder work that goes into making Tom Holland’s Spidey look so darn cool.

I’m the guy who wrote the article “What Marvel Got Right About Spider-Man That His Solo Movies Got Wrong,” so it should go without saying (or at least saying again) how much I enjoyed Tom Holland’s new take on Spidey from Captain America: Civil War. The real test for the new Spider-Man, though, will be his first full-fledged solo film, Spider-Man: Homecoming, due next summer from Marvel and Sony. Will Homecoming carry forward Spidey’s momentum from Civil War? Or will it be another Amazing Spider-Man 2? (Dear Lord, please don’t let it be another Amazing Spider-Man 2.)

It’s time for our daily update on the cast of Spider-Man: Homecoming, which is, once again, adding more awesome names to its growing roster. At the very least, Marvel and Sony’s new reboot will have a fantastic and very diverse cast — one that now includes Fargo Season 2 favorite Bokeem Woodbine (as yet another villain) and Better Call Saul star Michael Mando.

Hey, Spider-Man: Homecoming, how about saving some talent for the rest of the movies? Just last week Sony and Marvel’s joint reboot added Donald Glover, Logan Marshall-Green (Not Tom Hardy) and Martin Starr to an increasingly fantastic ensemble cast, but they’re not done just yet. Today brings word of two more actors joining the lineup: Comedian and Broad City star Hannibal Buress and Beasts of No Nation breakout star Abraham Attah. Who else is left? If Meryl Streep joins this thing, it’s going to start feeling like Christmas at Oprah’s house.

Sony's PlayStation press conference at E3 last night was filled with a number of jaw-dropping reveals and announcements for its original licenses. However for me, one third-party partnership stole the entire show. It's been a long time since we've had a Spider-Man video game we could get excited about, but with Insomniac developing an all-new action game exclusively for the PlayStation 4, it's time to get excited again. With a laundry list of credits that include industry legends like Ratchet and Clank, Sly Cooper and most recently, Sunset Overdrive, a developer as qualified as Insomniac Games is taking the reins on ol' webhead should get your spider-sense tingling. Just look at that trailer. It's got everything you could possibly want from a Spider-Man game all wrapped into one nice little package. What's more, according to Insomniac, that's not a rendered trailer; that's the game.

After delivering two great Spider-Man films back-to-back (and almost singlehandedly launching a new era of superhero franchises), Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3 left fans and critics feeling a bit disappointed. With one too many villains, that famous Peter Parker dance sequence (which I actually like!) and reports of Sony’s meddling, Raimi’s third film in the series ultimately proved to be his last when he abandoned plans for Spider-Man 4 back in 2010 — leaving us wondering what his fourth film might have looked like. Thankfully, we don’t have to wonder (much) anymore.

Leading up to the two most recent Spider-Man reboots, some fans expressed a desire to see the Miles Morales version of the web-slinger on the big screen instead of rehashing the same ol’ Peter Parker story. It looks like those fans may get their wish, as Morales is rumored to be the focus of Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s upcoming animated Spider-Man film — which does make sense, as the project is said to be separate from Sony and Marvel’s reboot with Tom Holland.

Fantastic Five: Best Comic Book Reboots
If there’s one thing we’ve learned from our years on the Internet, it’s that there’s no aspect of comics that can’t be broken down and quantified in a single definitive list, preferably in amounts of five or ten. And since there’s no more definitive authority than ComicsAlliance, we’re taking it upon ourselves to compile Top Five lists of everything you could ever want to know about comics. With a heavily anticipated and equally hyped reboot (or de-boot? or lateral-move-boot?) debuting this week, we thought we'd take a look at comics' frequent tendency to hit the reset button, with a specific focus on times when things turned out, you know, pretty okay! Whether it was because a certain character or story was in particularly dire straits and needed a mulligan, or because time and hindsight allowed an already good idea to be refined, these five examples show that dramatically reconfiguring a comics series is not always necessarily a bad thing.
