LSU Basketball

The LSU men's basketball team, having won seven consecutive games by holding opponents under 60 points, puts its streak on the line tonight at 6 p.m. in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center against nationally-ranked Virginia.

The Southeastern Conference Monday selected sophomore guard Ralston Turner as its Player of the Week. Turner helped LSU to wins at home against previously undefeated 10th-ranked Marquette 67-59 on Dec. 19 and then ran its winning streak to six games with a road win at North Texas 67-58 on Dec. 22.

LSU hosts Grambling State Thursday night at 6 p.m. and then plays Virginia in the Maravich Center at 6 p.m. on Jan. 2. Notice both games will start at an earlier than normal start time of 6 p.m.

(From LSUsports.net) It was 13-0 in the first few minutes of last night's LSU Tigers basketball game against Marquette, but by the time the clock buzzed marking the end of the game, LSU had won 67-59.

In what may be one of the most spectacular saves in basketball this year, Nate Davis of Heidelberg University caught a high-flying rebound and pulled off an amazing dunk during a game against Trine University.

The LSU Tigers will try to put the defensive clamps on a fourth straight opponent tonight at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center when the UC Irvine Anteaters come to town.

(with help from LSU Sports) In basketball tournament action yesterday,   the LSU Tigers were way ahead of  Northwestern in the first period,   in fact at the half,  LSU was up by nine.  The Tigers lost the  lead in the second half and then came back to get within one point with 48 seconds to play.  The final score was Northwestern on top  88-82.
