Storm Arising? Huge Penalties Expected For Penn State Soon

For a Sunday morning that is just beginning for many, in State College, Pennsylvania many wish this day could already end!

Just a few moments ago, the process to remove Joe Paterno’s statue from Penn State’s football stadium has begun. Also announced, lingering penalties soon to be announced by the NCAA that will turn the Penn State athletic department upside down.

Not too long ago, a report surfaced that “unprecedented” penalties will come down on the whole athletic department and university as a whole.

One big source tells CBS News reporter Armen Keteyian, “I’ve never seen anything like it.”

These upcoming penalties are a result of the chilling details from the Freeh report, that gave a who’s who of wrongdoers inside the walls of the Penn State system, from the President, on down to the late Joe Paterno.

Some feel the athletic program being penalized is unjust, some feel it’s the best thing to do.

For those who raise the question, “Why punish Penn State?”, I ask: Is it more justified to not punish Penn State for committing crimes against humanity, than it being justified to punish USC and Ohio State for crimes that aren’t even against the law?!

While the official announcement will be made Monday morning at 9 a.m., we can only speculate what the Nittany Lion program will face.

Death Penalty? That’s a possibility.

We can only wait in anticipation to see what will happen. How should Penn State be punished, if you feel they should be punished at all?
