Sunday night, George's Pond at Hirsch Coliseum was absolutely ELECTRIC. It was the Shreveport Mudbugs last home game of the year. It was an elimination game. And, to advance to the next round of the playoffs, the Bugs had to go through their division rivals and the reigning, defending Robertson Cup Champions the Lone Star Brahmas.

During the regular season, the Brahmas gave the Bugs fits. I mean some of the head to head stats are just mindblowing. No 5-on-5 goals against the Brahmas all year, no away goals in 200+ minutes of ice time...Statistically speaking, the Mudbugs had no chance of winning. But, as the old saying goes, luckily games aren't played on paper.

The heart and determination of the Bugs showed last night as they were able to outlast and survive the Brahmas with a 3 to 2 victory. The win pushes the Bugs into the 'Frozen Four' for the Robertson Cup trophy.

The Bugs scored two early first period goals but Lone Star, as always, took the hits and came charging back. But, thanks to some fantastic goaltending from Jaxon Castor and an impressive offensive display from Roberts Baranovskis, the Bugs were able to hold on and secure the victory.

The Mudbugs now head to Blaine, Minnesota to continue their quest for the Robertson Cup. They'll be taking on the Number 3 Seeded Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights this up coming weekend. To find out when the Bugs play and where you can watch the game, check out the Mudbugs Facebook page.
