Shreveport Man Convicted of Molesting Juvenile
A 35-year-old Shreveport man is convicted in Caddo District Court for molesting a juvenile under the age of 13.
Tyrone Washington's trial began Monday. It took a five-man, seven-woman jury less than three hours to return a guilty verdict yesterday.
According to the Caddo District Attorney's Office, the female victim was 11 years old at the time of the incidents, which happened between 2009 and 2010. The situation came to light in 2014 during a phone conversation between the victim and a friend.
When the friend heard about the assaults, she called the victim's mother and told her what had happened. Washington was arrested on a warrant several days later at his job.
Washington heads back to court May 16 for sentencing. He faces 25 to 99 years at hard labor, with at least 25 years of that sentence to be served without the benefit of probation, parole or suspension of sentence.
