1130 the Tiger set out to find out who you thought was Shreveport-Bossier's Greatest Sports Figure in a bracket-style tournament. You logged in and voted on your favorite sports figures. Now, we have a winner and we couldn't be more surprised or pleased with how things turned out.

Our championship round matchup came down to former LSU Tigers football Captain and NFL running back Jacob Hester, and former Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs player and Head Coach Scott Muscutt!

After a week of voting, only five votes separated the two in the final tally. Without any further ado, congratulations to Scott Muscutt on winning our bracket!

Scott and Jacob each reached out to their fans through social media to rally some votes.  Their fans responded, and we could never have never imagined that the voting would end up so close.

Jacob's fans tried to push him over the edge on the last day of voting.

Muscutt had these classy words to say on Facebook when the voting ended and the results were unclear.

Jacob Hester was on the Tim Fletcher Show Thursday morning along with Todd Walker, and the guys discussed the results of the bracket.

Also, congratulations to two more of our listeners who voted in the bracket.

  • William Law won the Grand Prize, a flatscreen HDTV
  • Dan Nevels won a $100 gift card to the Sand Bar
  • Shane Cheatham won a $50 gift card to Wal-Mart
  • Ronald Peterson won a $25 gift card to Academy Sports and Outdoors

Our grand prize winner, William Law, came up to the station to claim his HDTV.  I asked William who he voted for.  He told me that he played hockey growing up with Scott Muscutt's sons and went to some of Scott's youth hockey camps... he voted for Muscutt the whole way.  So there ya go Mr. Muscutt, the seeds you've sown in the past are paying dividends now.  William, thanks for voting!
