Have you ever wanted to know where you came from? Most people can easily go back a few generations using stories, family Bibles, and a little bit of research, but what if you want to go back further?

Modern technology is now allowing us to look back hundreds or even thousands of years into our genetic make-up to tell us exactly where in the world our family lines started. The Shreve Memorial Library Genealogy Department is hosting a Lock-In on Friday, May 20th from 6pm to 9pm at Broadmoor Branch Library discussing that very thing. The topic is “DNA and Your Family Tree.”

Genealogy researchers will discuss using DNA to connect the branches of your family tree. Discover who your ancestors were, where they lived, and how you connect with their descendants around the globe using the latest DNA technology. “We host a Lock-In about three times a year, giving researchers a chance to work in a more relaxed atmosphere,” said Genealogy Librarian Lise’ Taylor. “They also have a chance to exchange ideas with other researchers that might help break through the brick walls we all face at some time, while doing family research.”

Participants must be present before 6pm. Registration is required. For information or to register, call (318)219-3468.
