Tim Fletcher (his wife calls him “Fletcher”, most call him “Fletch”, his in-laws call him “collect”) is currently the host of a three-hour sports talk show on 1130 The Tiger (KWKH) from 6 am – 9 am each weekday morning. Looking to add some sizzle to the show, he decided to name the program, “The Tim Fletcher Show.” See how it just flows off the tongue?
Fletcher arrived in Shreveport in 1994 to take the Weekend Sports Anchor/Sports Reporter job with KTAL-TV (Channel 6). After five years under KTAL Sports Director Darrell Rebouche’, paramedics finally arrived to lift Rebouche’ off the then-34 year old, allowing Fletcher to take the Sports Director job across town at KTBS (Channel 3).
For nearly fifteen years, Fletcher traipsed around with camera on shoulder, capturing stories from the Ryder Cup in suburban Detroit, to the Final Four in Indianapolis, to the Masters at Augusta, to a pair of BCS Championship Games in New Orleans, to Super Bowls 44, 45 and 47 to Bryant Denny Stadium to Jordan-Hare to Neyland Stadium to Razorback Stadium to Kyle Field and of course, to Death Valley—Tiger Stadium. After nearly twenty-years in the local television business, he decided to spin out on his own and tackle the radio gig full-time after hosting a one or two-hour radio show for the past 16 years.
He does not miss the television business, especially the hours and hours spent in makeup prior to each newscast—Fletcher was the only anchor whose make-up artist also served as a handyman specializing in spackling.
Fletcher is married to Haughton and Louisiana Tech alum, Aly. They tied the knot the Saturday after Thanksgiving in 2004. Their three children are still on the payroll, one literally! Sydney Fletcher is the 22-year old social media/Twitterverse handler on the radio show. Caroline Copeland is their 18 year old soon-to-be Caddo Magnet graduate and Pearce Copeland is the 14 year old 8th grader.
Aly handles all the graphics and creative direction for the show… Fletcher basically flaps his gums three hours a day… and loves every minute of it.
In addition to Aly (The SportsWife) and Sydney (Syd the Kid), other members of the show are Chris Demirdjian (aka, ‘Cupcake’) and Justin Smith (aka, Ed Hardy). Former major league veteran, Todd Walker appears in studio each Thursday; Ex-LSU Tiger and 6 year NFL veteran Jacob Hester makes regular appearances as well on the program.
