SEC Male Athlete of the Year

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) — Former Razorback outfielder and Boston Red Sox slugger Andrew Benintendi has been named the top Southeastern Conference male athlete by the league's athletic directors.

Commissioner Greg Sankey announced the 2014-2015 Roy F. Kramer SEC Male Athlete of the Year honor Thursday morning.

Benintendi, who led the country with 20 home runs, is the fourth Arkansas athlete to win the award and is the first since Alistair Cragg in 2004. The Cincinnati native also won the Dick Howser Trophy as the top Division I baseball player in the country and the Golden Spikes Award as the nation's top amateur baseball player.

He was the seventh overall pick in the latest Major League Baseball draft after finishing the season with a .376 batting average and 57 RBIs.
