The good news is, soon, this won't be breaking news at all.

The director of the highly anticipated 'Power Rangers' reboot revealed one of the rangers will be gay. That's significant because it means the film will be the first of it's kind.

No other big-budget superhero movie has ever featured an LGBT protagonist.

The best part, to me anyways, is the character doesn't even know yet. The yellow ranger, Trini (played by one of our favorites, Becky G), actually comes to terms with her sexuality during the movie.

What a scene that must be.

The director from the reboot, Dan Israelite, recently spoke about the history-making move. "For Trini, really she's questioning a lot about who she is," Israelite tells The Hollywood Reporter. "She hasn't fully figured it out yet. I think what's great about that scene and what that scene propels for the rest of the movie is, 'That's OK.' The movie is saying, 'That's OK,' and all of the kids have to own who they are and find their tribe."

Sure, there will be a few who plan to boycott the film becasue of this, just like people boycotted Beauty and The Beast. However, the boycotts didn't hurt the film, as it crushed all kinds of records with a $170 million opening weekend.
