If you ask Rocke Musgraves, the coaches, and any of his players, they will all tell you the Pilots' season ended prematurely.

Friday's 6-3 loss to the Grand View Vikings ended a magical season for LSU-Shreveport.

The Pilots' starting pitcher Rory Young (7-3) was able to strike out 12 batters but, he gave up five runs and allowed eight hits.

Four of those five runs were the dagger in the hearts of the Pilots after cruising through the game with a 3-1 lead.

In the top of the 6th inning, Brandon Cooksey tripled to right center field to bring home two runs, and then two batters later, Pilots shortstop Manny Estrada brought home another run following his single. The Pilots would lead 3-1 in the 6th.

In the top of the 8th inning, perhaps a tired Young gave up four runs. That put the Vikings on top 5-3. Grand View added another run in the top of the 9th, to make the score 6-3.

Ever since the new playoff format of the NAIA began, this is the first time the Pilots did not win a game.

In the month of April, the Pilots compiled a record of 16-3 and were able to come back and win the Red River Athletic Conference Championship.

The Pilots reach 40 wins for the ninth consecutive season.
