Playing without Anthony Davis (groin), the New Orleans Pelicans found their shot Friday night, earning a 108-103 upset win over the Los Angeles Clippers behind Eric Gordon's big night.

Gordon scored a season-high 28 points on 10-20 shooting, including an impressive 5-7 from three point range. He also dished out 7 assists and grabbed 2 rebounds against the franchise that drafted him.

"It feels good," said Gordon of the win. "Against a good team like that, we needed to keep the turnovers down and get a good shot every (possession)."

Gordon's backcourt mate Tyreke Evans was 2 rebounds short of a triple-double, scoring 11 points and handing out 12 assists. His synergy with Gordon has been on point as of late, something Eric is enjoying.

"We're having fun, that's the best thing about it," said Gordon of his chemistry with Evans. "He just has a special knack for getting the ball and (making plays)."

A sold out crowd at the Smoothie King Center may not have seen superstar Anthony Davis in action, but they were able to witness one of the bigger Pelican wins of the season.

"It's good to be able to win like that in front of our crowd," said head coach Monty Williams.

Los Angeles entered with a 6 game win streak, but the short handed Pelicans found their stroke from beyond the arc, going 13-25 on three pointers.

Ryan Anderson finished with 24, hitting 5 triples in the contest.

With Davis out, big man Alexis Ajinca (pictured left) came off the bench to give New Orleans a spark, finishing with 17 points and 9 rebounds.

"It's always good to see Alexis come into the game and make a big impact," said Gordon of Ajinca. "We need that inside presence."

Next up for the Pelicans (25-22), a home game with the hottest team in the league on Monday, the Atlanta Hawks (39-8). Atlanta comes in riding a 17 game winning streak, with a matchup against the struggling 76ers on Saturday.
