From the kickoff to Holiday in Dixie to the kickoff of NAHL playoff action for the Shreveport Mudbugs, there's plenty to do for folks wanting to get out and about this weekend in Shreveport/Bossier City!
This Friday is the kickoff of 10 days of fun in downtown Shreveport with Holiday in Dixie, April 13th - 22nd, complete with a carnival, parade on Saturday, April 14th, live music, $1,500 treasure hunt, live music and family fun! Gates open Fridays at 5pm, Saturdays and Sundays at 1pm and at 5:30pm Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. Closed Tuesday.
The Shreveport Mudbugs kickoff NAHL playoff action this Friday and Saturday at 7:11pm on home ice at George's Pond at Hirsch Coliseum taking on the Corpus Christi Ice Rays. Don't forget the 'Bugs are up for the Kraft Hockeyville $150,000 prize. Voting starts Thursday, April 12th at 11pm CST and runs through Saturday, April 14th at 10am CST. The winner will be announced Saturday, April 14th at 2pm CST.
Minden does an amazing job when it comes to raising money for St. Jude and this Saturday from 6:30am - 3pm they're holding their annual 'Reeling for a Cure' bass tournament. The tournament is a scramble and participants can fish either Lake Bistineau or the Red River. Entry is $100 per boat for either 1 or 2 person teams with a 5 fish limit. Weigh in is at Red River South Marina.
Josh Turner is bringing his hits like Why Don't We Just Dance, Your Man, Long Black Train, Would You Go With Me and more to the Horseshoe Casino Riverdome Friday night at 8pm. Tickets start at $36 but it doesn't look like any tickets are available at this time. The show is 21+.
Support the Renzi Center this Saturday from 11am-2pm at The Shop on Southern Avenue in Shreveport at their annual jazz and blues brunch with headliner Buddy Flett. Tickets are $35 in advance and $40 at the door.
