After SEC Media Days, LSU was picked to finish second in the SEC this season, which may not have been what Coach Les Miles wanted to hear.

Now, he's not alone.

Some of the other college programs in Louisiana are looking at a similar situation. Louisiana Tech has reloaded after back-to-back 9 win seasons, and are expected to make some noise this year...but the Conference USA picks don't have them on top.

The Sun Belt Coaches Poll was even more unkind to the UL-Lafayette and UL-Monroe teams. Placing ULL at #5 and ULM at #11 for the pre-season poll.

Here's more from the Louisiana Radio Network:

"The Conference USA media has chosen the Louisiana Tech football team to finish second as the C-USA West Division champs in the upcoming season. The Bulldogs are behind Southern Miss.

In the Sun Belt coaches poll, UL-Lafayette came it at number five on the rankings, and ULM NO. 11. The list was released ahead of Monday’s Sun Belt Media Day activities in New Orleans."

Now this isn't all bad news for these teams. Because sitting at #1 going into the pre-season doesn't actually get you anything at the end of the year, unless you run-the-table. But it does add pressure from the start. You can still go undefeated after starting at #2, or #5 in ULL's case, and still win the conference.

So dropping some pressure, and still sitting in a respectable spot, might be the best thing after all.
