The No. 12 ranked LSU-Shreveport Pilots have won their first ever Red River Athletic Conference title, following their 88-84 win over No. 22 Our Lady of the Lady on Saturday night.

The Pilots won despite missing two key players from their lineup: Senior Mark Politte, who is still recovering after being hospitalized on Monday with acute kidney failure; and senior Dundrecous Nelson, who was out due to an injury suffered in Tuesday's game against Wiley.

Despite the Pilots 27 turnovers in the game, OLLU players had a total of 30 defensive fouls, allowing LSUS to go to the free throw line 40 times. The Pilots made 30 of the free throws.

Despite Will Nelson's foul trouble, he led all Pilots in scoring with 22 points and had a double-double, as he grabbed 13 rebounds.

With the victory, LSUS claims the Red River Athletic Conference title, and will be the No. 1 seed in the upcoming tournament. With the top seed, the Pilots will receive a first-round bye.

The tournament will take place at East Texas Baptist University. LSUS' first game will be on March 7.
