The New Orleans Pelicans say they’ve signed seven-foot-tall rookie center Jeff Withey to a contract.

Withey played four years at Kansas where he set the Big 12 record for career blocks.

He was drafted 39th overall by Portland then sent to New Orleans as part of a three-team deal that also sent guard Tyreke Evans to the Pelicans. The team has not released the terms of Withey’s deal.
