LSU standout Ben Simmons got drafted number one overall to the Philadelphia 76ers,so the Pelicans came into the NBA Draft crossing their fingers that the Naismith Player of the Year and Wooden Award winner Buddy Hield would be available at the number six pick. Buddy Hield is now teammates with Anthony Davis and Tyreke Evans and will make an immediate impact with the Pelicans in the upcoming season.

Hield got his nickname "Buddy Buckets" while playing at Oklahoma University. He was a projected top 20 in the draft last year but he stayed for his senior year to "polish" his game. Buddy did just that as he improved on every stat from his junior year. Hield led the Sooners to a Final Four appearance this year while averaging 25 PPG,50.1% FG,45% 3FG,88% FT,5.7 RPG,2.0 AST,1.1 STL and hitting 147 three pointers in 37 games.

Buddy Hield is arguably the best scorer in this draft. If you are a Pelicans fan get excited because Buddy is a work horse who never stops perfecting his game. Today is

Buddy's biggest day of his life because he is in New York about to begin living his dream as a NBA player. However,it is a huge day and full of things to do and to think about

but this morning Buddy got up early and had arranged a two hour practice in a local basketball gym to keep working on his game. That's dedication and that's what you want in a draft pick.
