It looked like a wedding of western proportions -  there were plenty of stetsons and cowboy boots.

And that's exactly what it was.  Country singers Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton tied the knot in Texas this weekend.

The couple were wed at the historic Don Strange Ranch, north of the city of San Antonio.

The guests included Cee Lo Green, Reba McEntire, Martina McBride, Dierks Bentley, Charles Kelly and the Bellamy Brothers.

And donning stetsons and cowboy boots, the guests were treated to a traditional Texas barbeque complete with deer steaks and smokey sauce at the traditional American ranch.

Miranda, 27, who was born in the Lone Star state, wore her mother June's 30-year-old wedding dress for the ceremony, in front of 550 family members and friends.

Before the ceremony, she told the Associated Press: 'I’m excited to get married. It’s been a year almost that we’ve been engaged. So I’m just sort of ready for it to get here.'

Afterwards, she told Us magazine: 'I'm married to my best friend', before adding that she was: 'looking forward to a lifetime of laughter.'

Blake, 34, who has been dating Miranda since 2006, added: 'I wanted to be married to Miranda the day I proposed. Finally, it's official.'

While this is Miranda's first marriage, Shelton was previously married to Kaynette Williams.

Before the ceremony, Miranda took to her Twitter page and posted a photo of some deer cutlets.

And she wrote: 'Last thing loaded for the wedding!!! Harvested by…me!!!!'
