I may be one of the few people left in America that actually gives a rat's ass about Boxing. I still believe it has the potential to be the most exciting sport in the world. But sadly, politics and financial reasons have ruined the sports. Now a days, it's damn near impossible to get a top notch fight. But today, Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather got together to announce what is being called 'The Fight of Century'. But is it really that big of a deal?

Five years ago, Mayweather vs Pacquiao would have been the biggest fight since the 80's. But, this isn't 5 or 6 years ago. These are two once great fighters on the backside of their careers. I'm am kinda curious to finally see these two together, but this is far from the fight that will bring the masses back to boxing.

So, the question is, what will bring boxing back to national prominence? Honestly, I don't know. This fight a decade earlier, could have saved the day. I'm sure a lot of folks will buy the PPV and all that, but after May 2nd, boxing goes back to the back burner. Which is sad.

There are TONS of great fighters in the boxing world, but the general public has never heard of these guys because of the politics in the boxing world, they've never been faced off against big name, big box office names.

The only REAL answer I can think of is that you start from scratch. You kill the idea of every fight is a Pay Per View, and start putting fights on ABC again. That's the only answer. One Manny and Floyd hang up their gloves, we have no more boxing superstars. None. So, while this may not be the fight of the Century in my opinion, this may be the last great fight ever because there is no where left to go from here.
