The LSU Tigers continue NCAA regional play on Saturday evening, playing host to the UNC-Wilmington Seahawks in a winners bracket game in the Baton Rouge Regional at Alex Box Stadium in Baton Rouge.
First-pitch is scheduled for 8 o’clock, and will follow an elimination game, which will feature Tulane and Lehigh at 3 pm.
The winner will advance to the finals on Sunday with an undefeated regional record, needing only one more win to advance to the NCAA Super.
LSU, the top-seed in the regional, and the #2-national seed, defeated Lehigh, 10-3, on Friday afternoon, and is currently 49-10 on the season.
UNC-Wilmington, members of the Colonial Athletic Association, and the #2-seed in the regional, will head into the match-up with an overall record of 40-16, following a 10-1 win over Tulane on Friday evening.
Offensively, the Tigers are hitting a .321, along with 47 home runs, 390 runs batted in, and 120 stolen bases in 152 attempts, while out-scoring the opposition, 425-215.  Pitching-wise, LSU sports an overall, combined, team ERA. of 2.93, compared to a 6.09 for the opposition, while holding foes to a .230 batting average against.
The Seahawks are hitting a .306 as a team, to go along with 44 homers, 344 RBI’s, and 77 stolen bases in 103 attempts.  On the hill, UNC-Wilmington sports a team ERA. of a 4.43, holding opponents to a .254 batting average against.
LSU is playing host to a regional for the 23rd time in school history.
The winner of the Baton Rouge Regional will face the winner of the Houston Regional, hosted by the University of Houston, in an NCAA Super Regional next weekend.
