The #12 ranked LSU Tigers (2-0) cruised to an easy 56-0 victory over Sam Houston Saturday night in the first game at Tiger Stadium since expanded the South End Zone seating. A record crowd of 100,338 fans were there to see it.

Battling an overmatched FCS opponent, the Tigers were expected to dominate. The story going in was how some of the young players at LSU would do with extended playing time and it will likely be the story going out.

"The interesting thing is putting young guys in the game and seeing what their interpretation is," said LSU head coach Les Miles. "I think we'll be able to see this film and see growth, but also areas we need to grow."

Some of the growth Miles speaks of may be in terms of maturity.

True freshmen running back Leonard Fournette, ranked by many recruiting websites as the top signee in the nation last February, scored his first collegiate touchdown in the first quarter on a 4 yard run. As he strutted in the end zone, he gave the Heisman pose. (See video of the pose and Miles' reaction by clicking here)

When Fournette headed to the sideline, he was greeted by a scowling Miles. Les gave Fournette an earful, evidently reminding the talented freshmen of the bigger picture. He finished the night as the team's leading rusher (92 yards on 13 carries).

Sophomore wide receiver and Breaux Bridge native Travin Dural was electric for the second straight game. He scored the first points of the game, reeling in a 94 yard touchdown from sophomore starting quarterback Anthony Jennings.

Dural finished the night with 3 catches, 140 yards, 3 touchdowns and 46.7 yard average.

Freshmen quarterback Brandon Harris saw extended playing time Saturday after only getting 3 snaps against Wisconsin in week 1. His best play of the night came on a run that looked like it would earn him a short gain, but after breaking several tackles, turned into a 46 yard highlight reel touchdown for his first career rushing touchdown.

In the 4th quarter, Harris threw his first career score, hooking up with highly touted freshmen WR Malachi Dupree on an 8 yard touchdown.

Another freshmen to reach the end zone was running back Darrel Williams, who carried the rock 14 times for 65 yards and a score.

LSU racked up 584 yards of offense on the night.

Defensively the Tigers was just as dominant, keeping the Bearkats off the scoreboard and holding them to 206 total yards, while forcing 3 turnovers.

Next week, LSU hosts ULM (2-0).

"We play a better opponent (ULM) and we think they'll be a quality test," explained Miles. "We'll have to buckle down and improve and see if our young guys can take some more steps."

Kickoff in Death Valley next Saturday is set for 6:00.
