Being ranked No. 12 in the Associated Press poll is peculiar to LSU fans, but it's expected after closing out a 2012 season with a 10-3 loss to the Clemson Tigers in the Chick-Fil-A Bowl.

The Associated Press polls that were released Saturday afternoon had the LSU Tigers ranked at No. 12.

This is the Tigers' lowest ranking since 2010, when LSU was dropped to No. 21.

Not surprising anyone, the Alabama Crimson Tide was given the No. 1 ranking. The Tide crushed Notre Dame's Fighting Irish last year en route to their BCS Championship victory.

The Ohio State Buckeyes, who were forced to sit out of bowl games this past season, were ranked No. 2
