After a perfect 13-0 season and SEC Championship under their belt,  the LSU Tigers suffered a disappointing shut out in the BCS National Championship game in New Orleans last night to a nearly perfect Alabama Crimson Tide team, 21-0.

The Tigers behind quarterback Jordan Jefferson were never able to penetrate the Tide's dynamic defense.  LSU's passing game was pretty much non-existent,  but Bama's seemed to be resurrected after a lack luster 9-6 loss against LSU in regular season.

Bama quarterback A.J. McCarron opened up the Tide's passing game and connected so many times that he received the MVP offensive award for his performance in last night's BCS National Championship game.

Alabama's defense - touted as the best in the nation all year long - proved it last night by not allowing LSU's offense across the 50 yard line,  except once.

Whatever was wrong with Bama's passing and kicking game was corrected and executed perfectly last night.

The shut out comes as a complete surprise to most everyone, though, considering LSU was ranked No. 1,  won the SEC championship and has some incredible All-American players.

Critics are saying LSU was out-coached by a determined Nick Saban, who used 44 days of practice going over films and figuring out ways to stop the "Honey Badger."

And they did.   Without Tyrann Mathieu's  acrobatics,  and any kind of passing game at all there was no hope for LSU.

Bama gets bragging rights as being one of only three teams to have ever shut out a team in the BCS National Championship game.  And Nick Saban racks up his third national championship.

But next year should prove to be a great year for LSU.  They have two of the most highly recruited quarterbacks in the country, who are pro-set passing quarterbacks.  Gunner Kiel and Zack Mettenberger will step into the pocket and do what Jordan Jefferson couldn't do and Jarrett Lee wasn't allowed to do.

After watching Alabama's defense shut out such a great team as LSU, you see why they say,  Roll Tide Roll!
