LSU freshman defensive tackle Travonte Valentine, who was a four-star recruit, tweeted that he’s cleared to play at LSU for 2014. Valentine has been awaiting the NCAA Clearinghouse’s decision

Valentine may have jumped the gun a bit as he is still yet to finish the admissions process. He also received some flack on Twitter from LSU fans after spelling the state's name and name of the university wrong.  Valentine eventually tweeted the correct name to make fans happy.

Not too long after Valentine’s tweet, LSU head coach Les Miles issued a statement through the sports information department.

“Travonte Valentine is going through the final phases of the admission process. He has not been cleared to join the football team. We will let you know once the process is complete.”

Valentine is expected to add much needed depth along the Tigers’ defensive line, particularly after the recent biceps injury to projected starter Quentin Thomas.

Valentine committed to LSU back on National Signing Day but had yet to be approved by the NCAA Clearinghouse.
