LSU baseball erupted for seven runs in the 7th inning on the way to a 10-1 win over Mississippi State last night.

Austin Bain, Daniel Cabrera, Zach Watson and Jake Slaughter each drove in two runs. Watson also scored three times and had three hits. Antoine Duplantis also had three hits. Zach Hess struck out 10 and only allowed three hits and one run in 6.2 innings to pick up the victory.

It would appear that this week's extra batting practice, and extended hitting drills, are paying off for the Tigers. Their bats have been pretty cold for the last few weeks, so to see an explosion like this was a little surprising.

But as we've been reminded of a lot, this team is still really young. There are a lot of freshmen being asked to play big roles. So if this team can get things together, and stay in the hunt, it's totally possible they could catch fire in a month, and make some noise down the stretch.
