LSU Baseball Sweeps Mississippi State to Move Into Second Place in SEC

The ninth ranked LSU baseball team completed a three game sweep of Mississippi State on Sunday. The Tigers had lost three SEC games to Vanderbilt the week prior. LSU exploded for 17 runs in Sunday’s Game 3 with the Bulldogs.

LSU is now 6-5-1 in SEC play, just a game and a half behind Alabama in the overall SEC standings.

LSU will complete their eight game homestand this week with four games at Alex Box Stadium. The Tigers host Lamar Wednesday night before a three game set with Arkansas this weekend.

Nola Wins SEC Pitcher of the Week

Tiger ace Aaron Nola earned his third SEC Pitcher of the Week honors for his win against Mississippi State on Friday night.  Nola, a Baton Rouge native, fired eight shutout innings to defeat No. 9 Mississippi State on Friday.

Nola improved to 6-1 on the year and lowered his ERA to 0.47. In 57 innings, he’s recorded 11 walks and 71 strikeouts, and opponents are hitting just .141 against him.
