Considering the rich history earned by the LSU baseball program, it's a "BIG DEAL" when an LSU team does something no other LSU team has done before. Those aren't my words, those are the words of head LSU baseball coach Paul Mainieri! The Tigers earned their 46th win of the season Tuesday night, 11-2 against the University of New Orleans.

46 wins is something no LSU team has done in the regular season ever since the NCAA standardized a 56 game schedule.  LSU is 46-7 after 53 games, with three games left to play.

The Tigers had 17 hits against UNO pitching.  Michael Barash had a home run, subbing in for first baseman Mason Katz who went 2 for 3 in the game.  Freshman Hunter Newman earned the victory, allowing only one hit in five innings work.

UNO is the alma mater of Paul Mainieri, and the Tigers will open the season next year against the Privateers.

There are only three games left on the regular season schedule... a three set with Ole Miss begins on Thursday.  The SEC tournament will be played May 21st - 26th.
