For the second straight year, the LSU Tigers have clinched the SEC West Division Title.  The Tigers took 2 of 3 from Texas A&M in their final road SEC series of the season.  LSU is now 21-6 in league play and outright champions of the SEC West.

Third ranked LSU is three games behind Vanderbilt for the overall SEC race.  Vanderbilt is ranked 2nd in the nation, and the two teams will likely have to go through each other to win the SEC Tournament Championship which is May 21-26th.

It was a crazy and difficult weekend for the Tigers in College Station.  They had to work hard to earn the series victory over the Aggies.  LSU lost their first series opener of the season in Game 1.  It was a game that started on Thursday night, but didn't end until the wee hours of Friday morning thanks to a nearly two hour rain delay.  The Tigers lost 2-1.

Game 2 was even more trying for Paul Mainieri's club.  Game 2 began on Friday night, but didn't finish untill almost Saturday afternoon.  Play was suspended in the 7th inning on Friday due to weather, and resumed at 9:30am Saturday morning.  LSU picked up the victory 7-4 over the Aggies.

Game 3 began just an hour after the conclusion of Game 2.  Scheduled to play only seven innings of regulation, LSU need an extra frame to beat the Aggies.  The Tigers won 2-1 in 8 innings, technically... an extra inning victory.  Catcher Ty Ross led off the 8th with a clutch double.  Pinch runner Jared Foster would eventually score on a sac fly by Sean McMullen.  Shreveport native Chris Cotton would come in and pitch the final five outs, earning the victory.

Cotton earned his 11th save of the season earlier on Saturday by finishing the Game 2 win.  Tiger ace Aaron Nola did not get his fifth consecutive complete game in his Game 2 start, but did get the win to become 10-0 on the season.  Nola threw six innings, giving up one earned run on six hits.

LSU returns to action on Tuesday (May 14) against the University of New Orleans before finishing their regular season schedule this weekend at home against Ole Miss in a three game SEC series.
