KWKH thanks everyone who came out for our last Operation Santa Claus remote collecting toys and donations to buy new toys for local needy children here in Shreveport-Bossier.

We took in about $700 in cash to buy toys for disadvantaged children on a gift list through Shreveport Police and Fire Departments and Bossier Sheriff's Department.

There was also a van load of toys collected at this morning's remote location, which was The Joint Chiropractic Place on Youree Drive.

We had a little fun with our sister station's personality Stifler from K 94-5.   Stifler,  who was wearing  an Alabama shirt said he would burn it if we collected a thousand dollars in donations to buy toys for needy children.

Since we were only several hundred dollars away from the thousand dollar goal, LSU fans (which was everyone) ganged up on Stifler and made him take off his shirt and we burned it anyway!

Even though our remote broadcasts have ended our Operation Santa Claus toy drive hasn't.  You still have until 5 pm Thursday to bring by a new unwrapped toy to any of our drop off locations, which are listed on our website, KWKHonline.com.

Or you can bring the toys to the KWKH studios,  located at 6341 Westport Ave.  in Shreveport.  We're open from 8-5 through Thursday to take your toys.

We still need scooters, wagons, art sets, WWE Wrestling figures, basketballs, Elmos, Hello Kiddies, Lightning McQueen, bikes, remote control cars with rechargeable batteries,  just any toy for ages infant to age 12.

If you'd like to sponsor a child for Christmas,  call the Operation Santa Claus number,  687-GIFT,  687-4438 and they'll help you sponsor a needy child.

And if you can't get out,  you can donate money online and Shreveport Police and Fire and Bossier Sheriff's deputies will do the shopping for you.

You can make monetary donations online at the Operation Santa Claus website, http://osccaddobossier.com/

The Barney Cannon Smile Run is this Thursday morning when we'll take your toys to Shriner's Hospital http://www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org/Hospitals/Locations/Shreveport.aspx

and Christus Schumpert Sutton Children's Hospital  http://www.suttonchildrens.com/ to kids there.  We do this every year in honor of  longtime KWKH morning show host Barney Cannon.

Merry Christmas and thank you for donating to this most worthy cause.
