The day after students return from a long holiday vacation will be a big one for Bossier High School, as members of the BHS ROTC present a check to The Salvation Army.

The money came from the 3rd annual La'Keia Rawls Memorial 5K, held December 13 in Bossier City. It'll be used for the Salvation Army's women's and children's shelter.

La'Keia's mother, Victoria Rawls, will be there for the presentation. Her daughter, who was a graduate of Bossier High, was the victim of domestic violence. The ROTC established the 5K in her honor and continually hosts it to raise awareness about this type of violence.

The check will be handed over at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 7.
