Natchitoches will host ceremonies this weekend for the 2014 induction class into the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame.  Among those being inducted are New Orleans Saints owner Tom Benson as well as former LSU Tiger and NFL star Alan Faneca.

Thursday, June 19

Inductee Press Conference, 3:00-4:45 p.m.  Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame Museum.  PRESS ONLY.

Friday, June 20

Celebrity Pro-Am Golf Tournament, 9 a.m. Registration at Oak Wing Golf Club in Alexandria.   10 a.m. introductions and tee time - Each team will be paired with celebrity golf captain.  Registration closes on Tuesday, June 17 or whenever event sells out.  ($150 per person or $750 for team of 5 and includes shirt, cap, lunch, beverages and golf)

Folse, Fun & Fireworks, 7:30 p.m. A unique experience led by Louisiana’s preeminent chef, John Folse.  Chef Folse will be interacting with attendees regarding his adventure in authoring After the Hunt, Louisiana’s Authoritative Collection of Wild Game and Game Fish Cookery.  Wines will be paired with cuisine all in the ambience of the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame Museum.  A silent auction featuring fantastic hunting and fishing items will also be featured with the evening culminating with fireworks on the Cane River. ($125 per person, limited to 100 attendees)

Saturday, June 21

New Orleans Saints Junior Training Camp, 9:00-11 a.m. Natchitoches Central High School.  This FREE interactive youth events is led by Hall of Famer’s who share their personal knowledge of what it takes to be a champion on and off the field.  Attendees will learn skills and participate in drills aimed at instilling the importance of healthy lifestyle and will also receive instruction and handouts on nutrition and personal safety.  The Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame Foundation is partnering with the Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness led by LA Sports Hall of Fame inductee, Rudy Macklin along with the New Orleans Saints & Gatorade, who will be providing components of their junior training camp. (Pre-registration required with signed liability release form.  Limited to 175 participants.)

Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony  - This year’s inductees are:  Tom Benson (Owner of the New Orleans Saints & Pelicans), Alan Faneca (LSU/Pittsburgh Steelers), Shane Reynolds (Houston Astros), Beryl Shipley (ULL Basketball Coach), Lionel Washington (Tulane/Pro Football), Venus Lacy (LA Tech Basketball, NY Liberty), Richard “Moon” Ducoté (LSU), Pete Boudreaux (Catholic High), . Tickets are $75 per person / sponsorships available.

5 p.m. – Reception/Silent Auction Natchitoches Events Center, 750 Second Street.  Valet Parking. Attire: Business. Coat and tie for the gentlemen and dress for women is appropriate.

6:00 p.m. – Induction Dinner and Ceremony which begins with National Anthem, followed by Walk of Legends, dinner and presentation of inductees.
