Well that changes things.

Almost all week, I've heard people talking about how great it would be to see Jimbo Fisher coach Florida State in Shreveport during the Independence Bowl. But at the same time, I've been reading from Florida State people online about how great it would be to see Jimbo Fisher coaching anywhere but FSU.

So now it's come to this.

Jimbo's headed for Texas A&M for an SEC return (granted his first stint as a Head Coach) that's been rumored since he left his Offensive Coordinator gig at LSU in 2006. He's pretty familiar with the league, in addition to being on the LSU staff from 2000-06, he served as the Auburn Quarterbacks Coach from 1993-1998.

We'll have plenty of time to talk about what this means for the SEC before the 2018 season, but what does this mean right away? Well, a lot.

Florida State is one of the few teams playing tomorrow that aren't involved in a Conference Championship game. They're playing a make-up game with University of Louisiana - Monroe, in a game that could get FSU bowl eligible. It's a situation that Florida State isn't exactly used to, since they've played in a bowl game for 35 straight seasons.

But this also has implications in Shreveport.

As I mentioned above, there are a lot of people fitting both "Florida State" and "Independence Bowl" in their mouths this week. I know, because I'm one of them. But now that this program is in flux at the top, can they make it to 6 wins, and if they do, will they come to the Indy Bowl?

OK, we're getting way ahead of ourselves. The idea of Florida State in the Indy Bowl is still a lottery ticket. So let's not get ourselves rundown on what this means for "us". Jimbo Fisher is still a human being. He has a family, staff, and student-athletes that are impacted by these decisions. Even though there's a very small chance that the wake of this could touch us in a small way, this isn't about us.
