This first time I posed this question was minutes after the New Orleans Saints 16-11 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, it was met with a "You aren't from around here are you?". Which I took zero offense to.

The truth is, I'm not from here, but I'm married to a Saints fan, and had a house full of "FREE PAYTON" gear during the 2012 season. I got to see the joy in my home when the Saints won the Super Bowl in 2009. I have a pretty good idea of what I'm asking when I ask if it's time for Payton to go.

If you pull back for a hot second, and look at the facts, Sean Payton should be questioned right now. 2014 ended with a 7-9 record, 2015 ended with a 7-9 record, and now this year their best possible record is 8-8...meaning they're guaranteed to have a non-winning season for a third-straight year.

Payton signed a 5-year extension earlier this year, but that doesn't mean he's in the clear. The Los Angeles Rams relieved Jeff Fisher of this Head Coach position just a week after he signed an extension. You also have to remember that Payton's new deal makes him one of the highest paid coaches in the NFL.

With Drew Brees in the twilight of his career, and Payton's coaching in question, it would seem like the time to win is right now. But the team doesn't appear to be making moves to make that happen. There have been a few theories floated that if the Saints are in the position to draft Leonard Fournette in the NFL Draft, they have to do it to go all-in for one more shot with Payton and Brees. But there are a lot of questions about if the team would be willing to do that.

So here's the question, is it time to let Sean Payton go?
