Shreveport has been battling Atlanta for the title of Hollywood Of The South for the better part of a decade. Films big and small have been filmed across all parts of the Shreveport & Bossier areas.

Even though actors have been crawling all over Shreveport for years, there is not a large base of actors (I include actresses under this term) who can list "Shreveport" on their Date of Birth line. The list of actors from Shreveport do not have a large list of accomplishments or awards either. Bossier City has an equally short list, but the Bossier list is topped by Academy Award and Golden Globe winner Jared Leto. Who is adding to his 'cool factor' by portraying The Joker in the upcoming Suicide Squad movie.

That's not to say that there isn't solid substance on the Shreveport list...from Disney Classics to Star Trek, and The Andy Griffith Show, the Top 5 ranked actors on the IMDB Shreveport list have done a lot.

#5 - Tricia O'Neil

Why is there a picture of the USS Enterprise from Star Trek: The Next Generation shown under Tricia's name? Well, one of her most well-known roles was the character Kurak from the show. She also appeared in the major box office smash Titanic, even though her credit is simply "Woman".

Resume Highlights:

  • Murder, She Wrote
  • Matlock

#4 - Jack Prince

Jack Prince did most of his work on Broadway in the 1950s on works like Guys And Dolls & Lil' Abner. While working on Broadway, he crossed paths with a legend, Andy Griffith. It was that meeting that led to Prince getting the role of Rafe Hollister on The Andy Griffith Show. Though he only appeared as Rafe in 3 episodes, the character is remembered fondly.

Alan Autry led a pretty incredible professional career; Starting Quarterback for the Green Bay Packers, Mayor of Fresno, Ca, and of course, star of TNT's In The Heat Of The Night. Though he appeared regularly on shows like Grace Under Fire, Sons of Thunder, and Hart of Dixie, he will always be remembered as Bubba on In The Heat Of The Night.

#2 - Pat Carroll

Now, IMDB's STARmeter ranks Pat Carroll at #2 on the Shreveport list, but I demand a recount.

Pat Carroll's incredible career has found a way to touch the life of everyone reading this. Most notably as the voice of Ursula from the Disney Classic The Little Mermaid, but she's also found roles in TV classics, and has had an opportunity to practice her craft with one of the most recognized Japanese animated films of all time.

#1 - K.D. Aubert

I mean absolutely NO disrespect to K.D. Aubert when I say this, but Pat Carroll should probably be on top of this list.

It is true, Aubert has had more recent roles in major motion pictures, but the icon status that Pat Carroll's work has achieved is, well, iconic.

That's not to say Aubert doesn't have space on this list; she's had high-profile roles in movies like Friday After Next, Soul Plane, and Surfer, Dude. But her credits are not limited to the big screen. She has spent time as a music video actress, working with artists like Ludacris, John Legend, Nick Cannon, P. Diddy, Ne-Yo, 50 Cent, and more. She even appears in the video game Def Jam: Icon as the character Platinum.
