After suffering a franchise record eleventh straight loss Thursday night, the Houston Texans have fired head coach Gary Kubiak. The Texans lost Thursday to the Jacksonville Jaguars 27-20.  Speculation is that Kubiak's decision to bring quarterback Matt Schaub in for Case Keenum may have been the last straw.  Texans ownership had said earlier in the season that Keenum would finish the year as the starter.

Defensive coordinator Wade Phillips will make his second stint of the season as interim head coach. Kubiak missed a game earlier this year after suffering a mini-stroke.

Houston had Superbowl hopes this year but have sunk to a NFL worst 2-11 record.
