Are you ready for some serious soccer action in Shreveport-Bossier?

Tomorrow, the Shreveport Rafters FC will kick off their inaugural season at Lee Hedges Stadium against the Fort Worth Vaqueros. They are a minor league team and part of the National Premiere Soccer League (NSPL). They joined as an expansion team in 2016 and will compete in the South Region's South Central Conference. The NPSL is the tier of minor league soccer, equivalent to AAA in baseball. The players are all amateur (to keep their college eligibility) or semi-professional.

The Rafters will be kicking their season off in style.

It all starts at Great Raft Brewing at noon with cornhole and games for the family. Food will be available from Ki' Mexico and Southern Fork. At 1 p.m. there will be a frozen t-shirt contest, while at 2 p.m. you'll meet the team. There will be plenty of other games, chant practices, juggling contests, live music and more before door prizes are announced at 4 p.m.

Then it's time to head to Lee Hedges Stadium for the big game at 7 p.m.

What a golden opportunity to see some great soccer and support yet another championship-contending team in our own backyard.
