Sad news to pass along this evening, as one of the most beloved golfers in the world, Arnold Palmer, has passed away.

Many have credited Arnold Palmer for making golf a mainstream sport in the US. His abilities, charisma, and coverage all led to a devoted fan-base, known affectionately as Arnie's Army.

While leading the money list 4 times in his career, Palmer set multiple records through his lengthy career. In 2004 he was given the Presidential Medal of Freedom, and in 2012 he was the 6th athlete ever to be awarded the Congressional Gold Medal, giving him the two highest civilians awards in the US.

Arnold Palmer was 87.
