The explosion of color that blasts into the sky on the Riverfront makes the Fourth of July Fireworks in Shreveport extra special each year. So much color and so much snap, crackle and pop!

Shreveport Captains Baseball Game against Amarillo

Baseball, hotdogs, apple pie and the Shreveport Captains. This year, the Captains are playing on July 4th in an away game. Now, it may be a haul to go to Amarillo to catch the Captains take on the Sox on the 4th, but well worth it since you have the time off, and gas is no longer $4 a gallon!

Picnic in the Park at By the Lake Park in Mooringsport, Louisiana

A picnic in the park is a perfect way to spend 4th of July. And there's this fabulous small park in Mooringsport, La., , which sits on a bluff overlooking scenic Caddo Lake. There are plenty of picnic tables, swings, a portable toilet, pier and boat launching facilities. You'll find it near the Historic Caddo Lake Drawbridge, where you can enjoy the history of Mooringsport. Fry some chicken and come on out for a fun time with the whole family.

What better way to celebrate the 4th of July than at a classic country concert featuring the legendary Merle Haggard. Celebrate a day early at the Horseshoe Riverdome with the Hag, who will be in concert Sunday, July 3rd. You can't get any more patriotic than Merle Haggard on 4th of July weekend in Shreveport!
