Think you make the best gumbo in Shreveport-Bossier? It's time to prove it!

It's almost that time again. Time to gather together in downtown Shreveport to determine who makes the best gumbo in Shreveport-Bossier. It's the fourth annual Battle of the Gumbo Gladiators.

Let the battle begin!

The cook-off will take place on March 19 at Festival Plaza in Shreveport. Team registration is now open at gumbogladiators.com. The event is a fundraiser for the Volunteers for Youth Justice.

Last year, 1,800 people attended the event, sampling 44 different gumbos made by 36 teams. Teams were predominantly from the Shreveport-Bossier area, but others have traveled from other cities and states. This year, teams from Baton Rouge, Breaux Bridge and Austin are already on board for this year. Teams are professional chefs, caterers, tailgaters or even home cooks.

To determine winners there is a blind judging process with more than 30 judges. Three top teams are selected for both the seafood and non-seafood categories. There is also a People's Choice winner.
