The NBA Draft came and went this week with no Louisiana-based college kids getting drafted. Not even an LSU player (for the first time in three years) like Antonio Blakeney got drafted. But that doesn't mean there won't be any local talents making the transition to the NBA. Blakeney might get a shot down the road by signing as a free agent, but as of this minute, that hasn't happened.

But at least one Louisiana college star will be getting a shot at the NBA right away. Again, not an LSU star, but an Louisiana Tech star will be getting his shot, and it's not going to be pretty close to Tech too. Here's the details from the Louisiana Radio Network:

"Former Louisiana Tech forward Erik McCree reached a free agent contract agreement with the Houston Rockets. He wasn’t selected in the 2017 NBA Draft, but multiple organizations called him before McCree ultimately decided on Houston."
