Former LSU linebacker Tahj Jones was hospitalized over the weekend and is currently in stable condition after being shot in the abdomen Friday night in Sulphur.

The 24 year old underwent a second surgery Sunday and is said to be doing much better.

According to Sulphur police, Brandon Whiney, another former LSU football player, was arrested Saturday and charged with attempted second degree murder for the shooting.

Jones participated in LSU’s Pro Day last Wednesday.  Jones was contacted by the St. Louis Rams and Washington Redskins after his Pro Day in Baton Rouge.  Jones was not expected to be drafted in the upcoming NFL Draft, but likely would have signed on with a team and had a good chance of making a squad as a special teams performer.

Jones and 36 year old Whiney reportedly got into an argument over a woman at a Sulphur apartment complex.  Police say Whiney shot Jones then fled.  Jones was taken to a Sulphur hospital by the woman.
