Additional Information

One of the most popular events in Shreveport during the Halloween season is Pumpkin Shine on Line. This fun family event is where all ages can enjoy the great variety of pumpkins carved by children, school classes, families and other pumpkin artists.

Bands and choirs from schools in the Shreveport area provide entertainment as leaders in the city judge the entries of pumpkins carved into jack-o-lanterns.

Prizes are awarded for the best jack-o-lanterns, and all participants receive a Pumpkin Shine ribbon. Cash prizes are awarded to the three schools with the most jack-o-lantern entries.

To enter a pumpkin, bring your carved or decorated creations to Betty Virginia Park on Live Avenue between 2-4 p.m.

The trails around Betty Virginia Park, at the corner of Line Avenue and Ockley Drive in Shreveport, will glow with the light of nearly 1,000 jack-o-lanterns from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 29, 2013.

The event is FREE. Park at Mall St. Vincent (Dillard’s lot) and ride the FREE shuttle to the park entrance. The shuttle runs from 5-9 p.m. Security is provided, and pizza, soft drinks and other concessions will be available. Proceeds from the concessions, donated by Southfield School parents, support beautification projects at Betty Virginia Park.
