10k Run/1 Mile Health Walk to Celebrate Organ Donors and Transplant Recipients
LOPA (Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency) is excited to host their first DONATE LIFE HOPE RUN which includes a 10k run along with a 1 mile walk on Saturday, September 8, 2012. The race will take place along the beautiful Red River in Downtown Shreveport beginning at Clyde Fant Parkway and Lake Street. The 10k and the 1 mile walk/run will both begin at 8:30AM. Awards will be given to overall male and female winners in 5 different age categories plus there will be plenty of prizes given away during random door prize drawings. Individual participants and teams can register online through the Sportspectrum website at www.sportspectrumusa.com. The pre-registration fee is only $20 and on-site registration will be $25.

This event is to honor and celebrate our Donate Life Heroes who have given the “gift of life” through organ and tissue donation. One organ donor can save the lives of up to 9 people who are waiting on a life-saving organ transplant. In Louisiana, we have over 1,800 patients waiting for a second chance at life and we desperately need to raise awareness for more people to become organ donors. Our mission at LOPA is simple – help save lives through organ and tissue donation. Register today to become an organ donor at www.donatelifeLA.org and help support our donor families and transplant recipients by registering for our Donate Life Hope Run. LOPA representatives are available for media interviews or to answer any questions you may have. If you are interested in an interview or would like to include Donate Life Hope Run in your news coverage, please contact Sheron Raymond, sraymond@lopa.org or 318.402.9715. Thank you for your continued support and commitment to help raise donor awareness throughout the Ark-La-Tex.
