A Shreveport man is hit by gunfire while standing outside his west Shreveport home early this morning.

Shreveport police say just after 6 a.m., patrol officers were called to a shooting at a home in the 3300 block of Darien Street. There, they found 29-year-old Quincy Jackson suffering from several gunshot wounds to the lower body. He was taken to University Health with wounds that are considered to be non-life-threatening.

Detectives say Jackson was standing outside his house, when an older-model, white car, possibly a Ford Pinto, drove down the block and its occupants began firing shots at him. The home Jackson was standing in front of was hit several times, and at least four other homes were also damaged.

Officers found a semi-automatic weapon at the scene, along with over a dozen spent shell casings. Investigators believe there may have been an exchange of gunfire between the car's occupants and someone at the home. There were children inside at the time, but none of them were hurt.

Police Corporal Marcus Hines tells KEEL News this isn't the first drive-by at this particular residence. It's been investigated in a previous shooting incident.
