It looks like the search is over for a new president for the University of Louisiana System. The search committee recommends one person for the job.

Dr. Jim Henderson, president of Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, is the only name submitted to the full UL System board for an interview.

A special meeting is set for Thursday. The UL System's Board of Supervisors will decide if Henderson will formally be offered the job. A search firm was hired to help find candidates, but some of the finalists removed their names from the list.

If Henderson gets the nod, he'll fill the job that Sandra Woodley left in December, leading the largest higher education system in Louisiana, with nearly 89,000 students across nine universities, including Northwestern State University.

Henderson has been at NSU since the beginning of 2015. Previously, he was the Bossier Parish Community College Chancellor. He has a bachelor's degree in Journalism from NSU, a master's degree in Human Performance Technology from the University of West Florida and a Doctor of Management from the University of Maryland.
