It is safe to say that Muhammad Ali is one of the greatest boxers of all time, maybe even one of the greatest athletes of all time. He was a world-wide icon during the second half of the the 20th century and it was all from his witty rhymes, confident trash talk, and also his greatness inside the ring. Ali was a brutal force inside the ring but outside the ring he was a loving and caring man. Did you know he went out of his way to save a man from jumping off a ledge in Los Angeles?

In 1981, Ali was in Los Angeles and was nearby a 21 year old man threatening to jump off a 9th floor ledge. When Ali heard he rushed over and asked the police to go up and talk him down. The first words Muhammad Ali told the man was “You’re my brother. I love you and I wouldn’t lie to you. You got to listen. I want you to come home with me, meet some friends of mine." Eventually, after that the man let Ali into the fire escape and twenty minutes later he helped the man, who was sobbing into Muhammad Ali arms as they made their way down. Muhammad did not stop there, he personally took the 21 year old to the hospital and went to visit him in the psychiatric hospital for veterans he was admitted to. This is another reason to remember Muhammad Ali as "The Greatest of All Time".
