Ticket sales for Sunday's Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Sonoma raceway have surged and one big reason is Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Things are now just about equal with what they were for the last year's race.

According to Raceway general manager Steve Page, until last week, tickets sales for the NASCAR Sprint Cup event were slightly behind last year.

But Earnhardt's victory last Sunday at Michigan International Speedway at the Quicken Loans 400 has created a boon to the Sonoma track.

A raceway spokesperson determined that 20 percent more tickets were sold on Monday, the day after Earnhardt's victory, compared to the same day six days before the race last year.
