LSU offensive tackle La'el Collins, recently the focus of a police murder investigation, had signed an undrafted free agent deal with the Dallas Cowboys.

Collins will receive a guaranteed $1.7 million over three years, a contract almost unheard of for a player not selected in the draft.

Collins and his legal team are currently working to clear his name in a Baton Rouge police investigation into the shooting death of Brittany Mills. Collins was questioned by authorities on Monday and is not considered a suspect. Mills, who had ben in a relationship with Collins, was pregnant at the time of her murder. Tests have shown that Collins was not the father of Mills child.

Many experts had anticipated that Collins would be chosen in the first round of last week's draft, but went unselected because of the uncertainty of the investigation.
