The Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating an 18-wheeler theft that ended in a crash early Friday morning.

It all started in Texarkana, AR according to a press release from the CPSO.

CPSO crash investigator Sgt. Mike Vaitkus said the 18-wheeler was reported stolen from a truck stop in Texarkana, Arkansas, around 4:30 a.m. today. About an hour later, a passerby reported seeing the 18-wheeler turned on its side...between the interstate and exit ramp. The truck was carrying two AT&T work trucks on a flatbed trailer. The driver of the 18-wheeler has not been located.

Vaitkus said it appeared the truck was headed southbound when the driver lost control, slid along the bridge railing, and crossed the median and northbound traffic lanes before traveling down an embankment and overturning.

The crash remains under investigation by the CPSO Traffic Safety Unit.
